Primary Purpose
Central Oregon Community College (COCC) is seeking an innovative, collaborative-minded, action-oriented individual to support the mission, vision, and strategic initiatives of the college at the Madras campus. The Madras Campus Director will work collaboratively with the other campus directors, instructional deans and academic departments, student services, and other COCC departments to provide the academic, operational, and administrative leadership for the COCC Madras Campus. The Director will also work with K-12 partners, local business and industry partners, the Warm Springs community, community organizations, and other partners to ensure the College is meeting the needs and expectations of the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Supervision:
    • Provide leadership and supervision of Madras Campus operations that translates COCC’s vision into a direction that ensures the long-term vitality and sustainability both internally and externally, including the development and support of credit and non-credit offerings, and coordinating community events and programs.
    • Hire, supervise, evaluate and develop the talents of the Madras-based staff that report to this position.
    • Outline priorities and provide onsite leadership for the maintenance of Madras Campus facilities in coordination with COCC campus services department.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor program budgets within the guidelines set forth by the college. Monitor and approve expenditures for the Madras Campus.
    • Work with representatives from the local education, community, government, county; business and industry, non-profit partners to determine the needs and expectations of the community.
    • Actively participate as a member of the college and serve on college committees as needed.

 


Instructional and Student Support Services:
  • Work with instructional administrators to plan, coordinate, and provide an appropriate and robust schedule of credit and non-credit offerings and instructional support services for the Madras Campus.
  • Partner with student services department leads to plan, coordinate, and provide an appropriate and robust schedule of student support services and student activities for the Madras Campus and community.
  • Work with and provide input to the deans, vice-presidents, and president on issues related to Madras and surrounding communities including Warm Springs.
  • Facilitate technology training of faculty, staff, and administrators to support communication, instructional offerings, and student services between the campuses.
 
Community Collaboration:
  • Build and sustain relationships with community partners, including business, industry and workforce partners in addressing workforce development issues and offering programs relevant to the community needs and interests responsive to changing economic and social trends.
  • Understand, utilize, and assist in developing appropriate marketing and reporting tools to ensure communication with stakeholders and targeted markets to assure program and college recognition in the community.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

  • Ability to manage full-time and part-time employees (professional and students).
  • Ability to manage and monitor program budgets.

Ergonomic Requirements
Position may require travel between communities within the college district. Road conditions will vary throughout the year. Scheduled early evening hours and occasional weekend hours are necessary.
Work is regularly performed in an office, mostly sitting with extended standing and some lifting of 10-30 pounds for 10 percent of the time. Work is periodically performed in temporary locations in commercial, public, or other spaces furnished with temporary tables, folding chairs, etc. and could include locations in an open-air setting. Computer screen is used more than 50 percent of the time. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Frequent travel to high schools and community events and meetings is expected and required. Must have reliable transportation to travel in potentially adverse weather conditions on a regular basis.

Minimum Requirements
Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business, Education, Public Administration, or other related field.

 

Experience:
  • Three years of administrative experience and direct supervision of staff in a professional environment.
  • Two years of experience planning, organizing, and executing projects, initiatives, and/or events.

Preferred Qualifications
 
Experience:
  • Experience with at-risk or underserved populations.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience with community engagement initiatives, preferably in Jefferson County and/or Warm Springs.
