Job Summary:

The School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a talented, innovative, and productive scientist with expertise and research interests in the field of informatics to join our tenure track faculty. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative group of scientists and scholars conducting innovative and impactful research aimed at improving health care services and individual and population health across the lifespan. We seek a candidate who will develop and maintain robust externally funded research programs in informatics, have the expertise and interest in teaching health informatics, and to mentor graduate and undergraduate honors students in informatics research. Candidates with research programs that apply informatics in one or more of the following priority research areas for the School are strongly encouraged to apply:
* Health systems and public health
* Aging and care of older adults
* Symptom science and palliative care
* Children, families, and reproductive health
* Mental health and substance abuse
* Health disparities
Successful candidates for these positions will also teach courses aligned with their expertise in Baccalaureate, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and PhD programs, and will mentor undergraduate honors and graduate students in research and scholarship. Service to the school, university, and profession, and meaningful contributions to creating inclusive excellence are also expectations of tenure track faculty.

Responsibilities:

* Tenure-track faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing conduct research, teach courses, mentor graduate students, and contribute to school, university, community, and professional activities through academic citizenship and leadership.
* Tenure-track faculty members positively contribute to School of Nursing and University of Wisconsin-Madison goals for diversity and inclusive excellence.
* Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain a collaborative, innovative, robust, and highly visible informatics research program that entails conceptualizing, designing, and conducting research studies; managing research staff; following all research compliance policies; disseminating research results; and seeking extramural research funding. Research programs may build on one or more of the following research approaches: symptom science, systems science, qualitative methods, health services research, epidemiology, informatics, large data analytics, or mixed methods. Research programs should be consistent with national nursing, public health, behavioral health, aging, family health, mental health, informatics, health care, or health systems priorities for extramural funding.
* Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses aligned with their expertise at baccalaureate and/or graduate levels. Teaching may include co-teaching in active learning environments and interprofessional education with health sciences students and faculty. Teaching may include face-to-face, blended, and online delivery.
* Research mentoring of undergraduate honors students, PhD students, and postdoctoral trainees/fellows is expected.
* Successful candidates will be expected to actively contribute to school, university, community, and professional committees and other activities through academic service.
* Appointments at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks are possible. For appointments at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, a substantial nationally recognized record of research, publication, teaching, and service meeting criteria for a tenured faculty position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will be required.

Education:

Required
PhD or other terminal degree
Earned research doctorate in Nursing or related field required.

Qualifications:

- Three or more years of experience or combined research training and experience in conducting health-related research projects
- A record of research publications
- One or more years of experience or combined education and experience in teaching at undergraduate or graduate levels in nursing or health related field is required; teaching experience using active learning strategies, co-teaching, concept-based teaching, blended and online teaching, and interprofessional education strategies is desirable.
-Experience with informatics in research or health care practice and certification in informatics (e.g. CPHIMS from HIMSS or RN-BC from ANCC) desirable but not required

License/Certification:

Preferred
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure
