Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Dean and Director for Rose Hill Advising, the Director for Specialized Advising will streamline academic support for retention-risk students. This role will manage a caseload of up to 650 students comprised of defined segments of the Gabelli School of Business student population at Rose Hill.
The Director for Specialized Advising will also be responsible for administrative responsibilities which support academic advising including academic auditing, grade analysis review, etc. This role also supports general advising responsibilities for all Gabelli School of Business students.
Essential Functions
- Advises Rose Hill special populations, as determined by the Senior Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies. Provide academic advising from deposit through graduation for special populations.
- Collaborates with class deans across all four years to ensure unified messaging and approach to advising.
- Develops small-group and individual advising processes to support the unique needs of multiple segments of retention-risk students at the Gabelli School of Business at Rose Hill.
- Creates community engagement events and academic milestone events for special populations.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Deans for First Year Students and Academic Advising, organize curated orientation programs (through summer and fall term) for specialized populations.
- Monitors trends among special populations students in critical areas, such as overall academic performance, major/minor/concentration declarations, non-persistent students, progress toward degree, and specific subsets of the student population to enhance advising strategy and policies.
- Oversees Gabelli’s tutoring program for all undergraduate students, as well as liaise with other University tutoring resources.

Additional Functions
- Develops and implements general academic support and study skill sessions open to all Gabelli School Rose Hill students.
- Supports all Gabelli School of Business priority events including but not limited to New Student Orientation, Open House and Spring Preview, and Commencement-related activities and celebrations.
- Collaborates with Senior Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies on admission and recruitment strategy.
- Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of the undergraduate curriculum.
- Regularly utilize Ram Central (Salesforce) for the Gabelli School of Business for day-to-day advising management including: student note- taking, setting appointments, auditing and report running.
- Supports special projects as identified by the Associate and Senior
- Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies.
- Collaborates with faculty to ensure the mission and objectives of the school are achieved.
- Serves as a member of one or more cross-functional teams that bring together staff from Admissions, Academic Advising, Personal and Professional Development, and Alumni Relations.
- Interacts with university departments including, but NOT limited to, Admissions, Enrollment, Career Services, Personal and Professional Development, Student Affairs, and Student Services.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Masters degree in education, counseling, social work, business, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience in business, or of work experience in higher education.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated ability to advise and teach in an AACSB-accredited business school.
- Demonstrated commitment to student development and meeting the higher education needs of students.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or EdD
- Minimum of 3 years of experience advising students in a business education setting
Minimum Starting Salary: $85,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $95,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
