Job Summary
The Kargbo-Hill lab is seeking a dynamic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team and contribute to the development of our relatively young laboratory (established January 2024!). This is an exciting opportunity to join and help build our group from the ground up!
We are in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB) department at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Campus. Our research delves into the mechanisms by which neurons regulate gene expression programs, navigating the challenges posed by aging and neurodegenerative diseases. We are especially interested in how dysregulation of disease-associated RNA-binding proteins, such as TDP-43, contribute to defects in RNA metabolism, RNA splicing, and altered DNA methylation. We use a variety of model systems including human iPSC-derived neurons, C. elegans. We also use techniques including molecular biology approaches, confocal microscopy, RNA-seq, and multi-`omics approaches.
The successful candidate will have strong technical and organizational skills and be eager and willing to learn. The individual hired will report directly to Dr. Kargbo-Hill and will contribute to and support on-going research efforts in the lab.
