Under the general direction of the Director of Concurrent Enrollment, the K-12 Student Success Liaison serves as a contact and resource for K-12 partners, students, and parents. This grant-funded initiative seeks to provide students with access to the broad array of programs, services, and activities available at Finger Lakes Community College. The K-12 Student Success Liaison works collaboratively with other college offices and departments to maximize student potential in achieving academic goals. Works with county agencies to ensure the social/emotional wellbeing of students to maximize academic success.
The K-12 Student Success Liaison builds positive relationships with targeted K-12 schools through excellent customer service and provides encouragement and support to students. The K-12 Student Success Liaison requires knowledge of the broad spectrum of college operations.

This position serves FLCC’s overall service area. Specific programming can be expected at Wayne County Community Schools.

This is a full-time, grant-funded position.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field. Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of experience in K-12 or higher education instruction, guidance, or advisement. Candidate must have or be willing to attain notary public certification. Experience in equity-minded work and/or understanding of diverse identities such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, and individuals with different academic preparation levels. Must be willing to travel locally. Limited evening and weekend assignments should be expected.
  • Experience Preferred: Experience in educational programs for low-income, first-generation, underrepresented student groups, or other at-risk students. Demonstrated knowledge of intervention strategies that address middle school-to-high school transition challenges or high school-to-college transition challenges.

Specific Functions:

  • Provides students with information about the college and promotes relevant programs, particularly Concurrent Enrollment (Gemini), Early College Scholars, and related Early College programs and pathways to degree programs and workforce training
  • Works with K-12 partners, to build individual academic plans for program participants
  • Collaborates with school district personnel to maximize student success within the high school and college programs
  • Increases awareness of FLCC programs and supports to various student populations related to the K-12 partners
  • Coordinates student success programs and initiatives to promote a culture of persistence that leads to increased retention and program completion
  • Provides students with information, guidance, and registration assistance regarding Early College opportunities
  • Plays an active role in registering, advising, and assisting students participating in Early College programs and assisting with transition to postsecondary studies
  • Collects and monitors student progress data and implements a communication plan and intervention strategy to address student needs
  • Coordinates with campus partners related to Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Workforce and Career Solutions, and Student Life to provide students with resources for successful transition to postsecondary studies
  • Maintains, updates, and distributes resources materials for college departments, K-12 partners, students, and parents
  • Provides proactive, personalized, and integrated engagement with program participants
  • Initiates communication and engage in ongoing outreach with students via phone, text, email, and one-on-one contacts to maintain and establish relationships for the purpose of retaining student participants
  • Monitors and provides outreach using the early alert system and provides academic guidance. Requires discrete handling of sensitive data and confidential information
  • Provides program participants with robust orientation and informational sessions
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Concurrent Enrollment

Benefits and Salary Range

  • Competitive starting salary in the range of $55,984 to $62,205 and is commensurate with qualifications
