The faculty instructor of accounting will teach college level accounting and finance courses at Alamance Community College. A person in this role will teach curriculum courses in accounting, including (but not limited to) Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Individual Income Taxes, Business Income Taxes, Accounting Software Applications (Quickbooks), Intermediate Accounting, and Auditing & Assurance. Instructors may be assigned sections whose delivery mode is traditional seated, online, and/or hybrid format. In addition to instruction, full-time faculty perform the essential duties as outlined below.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as college needs dictate.Providing appropriate and effective instruction.Teaching classes per the College’s teaching load formula in combinations including day, evening, weekend, off-campus, and online as the College requires.Providing relevant learning opportunities that promote student engagement and retention.Staying current in their field and in teaching methodology.Creating meaningful assessments and evaluating student work according to departmental standards.Maintaining accurate student records, including course attendance.Being available to students during office or lab hours for assistance.Providing regular grade updates through Moodle gradebook.Providing accurate, informed advising.Maintaining accessible office or lab hours.Understanding College policies and procedures, degree requirements, and transfer agreements.Providing students with current information regarding career opportunities, as appropriate.Being informed about College services and support for students.Recruiting students, including participation in open houses, College events, and recruitment fairs.Engaging in continuous improvement efforts.Building positive, effective relationships with internal and external partners.Participating in student club activities and events.Assisting with accreditation reports.Assisting with live projects as relevant.Serving on College committees and other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
