Supervisor, Electrical-Lighting Control Systems

Job Description

SUPERVISOR, ELECTRICAL-LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEMS, Department of Facilities, Repair & Maintenance, will manage assigned team(s), under the direction of the Manager and/or the Assistant Manager of Repair and Maintenance and/or the Electrical Systems Senior Supervisor; provide superior customer service and maintain all buildings and systems to the best possible condition; and provide leadership and direction to assigned team members.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of five years of experience in building operations; proven knowledge of building electrical and control systems; experience working with underground electrical utilities systems, such as High voltage and secondary distribution; experience working with emergency and standby generators and automatic transfer switches; a Massachusetts Master or Journeyman Electrician’s License; excellent customer service, interpersonal, written and oral communications skills; ability to manage work order backlogs and prioritize daily work; experience with computer systems, e-mail and the Internet; experience working in teams; demonstrated proficiency in job planning and execution; and familiarity with using SAP work order and planning modules. PREFERRED: Previous supervisory experience in a repair and maintenance setting with oversight over electrical-lighting controls or High Voltage fields; and bachelor’s degree or engineering background. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00AM-3:00PM; but must also be available for off-hours emergencies and standby supervisory coverage on a rotating basis, on weekends and holidays.

Will need ability to ascend and descend stairs; traverse the campus; move about the jobsite and machinery to access equipment; remain stationary for extended periods of time; and work from ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations such as roofs. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required by the specific assignment. Environment contains dust, odors, and fumes, high levels of noise and temperature extremes. Work will be performed near steam and moving machinery, in tight areas and confined spaces such as manholes and crawl spaces, and with and around chemicals and solvents.  Some work performed in research labs and animal facilities and outdoors in inclement weather. May require moving objects weighing 10-20 pounds.
