Financial Aid Advisor
Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Financial Aid Director, the Financial Aid Advisor will be responsible for providing one-on-one counseling to students and families regarding financial aid options, including grants, scholarships, and loans. This role is essential in helping students navigate the financial aspects of their education, ultimately enabling them to achieve their academic goals. Other responsibilities include:
Essential Functions:
- Assisting students complete financial aid applications, such as the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and other forms.
- Conduct workshops and seminars to educate students about budgeting, debt management, and financial planning.
- Review student financial aid applications and determine eligibility based on federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations to ensure compliance and advise students accordingly.
- Assist in the packaging and awarding of financial aid, ensuring that students receive the appropriate aid based on their financial needs.
- Maintain accurate records of financial aid applications, awards, and correspondence with students.
- Work with other departments, such as admissions and student services, to facilitate a comprehensive support system for students.
- Work with other organizations (WIOA, OhioMeansJobs, Etc.) that offer additional funding sources to students.
- Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to financial aid.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of financial aid regulations and processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in financial aid software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Empathy and understanding of diverse student needs.
