Job Summary
This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR) and services the Discharge Hospitality Center (DHC) for adult patients.
The Discharge Hospitality Center (DHC) is a designated area for patients who are discharged or are finalizing discharge needs that are awaiting transportation, pharmacy, or other medical supplies. This space provides a comfortable space for patients to wait and complete their care with us at Michigan Medicine. Utilization of this space is facilitated by our Clinical Care Expediters who follow a strict selection criterion for transfer to the DHC.

Evening Shift Differential is $5.00 per hour for 3p-7p and $4.00 per hour for 7p-11p.
Night Shift Differential is $3.00 per hour
Weekend Differential is $5.00 per hour

Responsibilities*
Work with the Clinical Expediter to determine appropriateness of the patient for use of DHC.
Coordinate with unit Charge RN to help facilitate the patient coming to the DHC.
Upon arrival, check the patient into the DHC and help get them oriented to the space.
Complete any remaining care that may be needed prior to discharge, such as completing IVPB infusions or discontinuing PIVs.
Patients can come to the DHC with their After Visit Summary (AVS) or Discharge paperwork reviewed and completed already, in the case this has not been completed, it will need to be printed and reviewed with the patient by the DHC RN.
Complete all documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including around care provided in the DHC, complete education for discharge, and complete the AVS.
In some cases, patients will require coordination with pharmacy for discharge medications or with security to obtain remaining patient belongings.

Work Schedule
**Commitment is 24 hours per 4 week scheduling period
Evening and Night shifts are available; 4, 8, and 12 HR BLOCKS AVAILABLE!

Please Note:
Expected to float to like units where competent and qualified in times of decreased activity
Inability to work for three (3) months consecutively will lead to automatic termination from employment at Michigan Medicine.
No guarantee of work at any time, and shifts can, and sometimes will be cancelled.

TEMPORARY FLOAT NURSE GUIDELINES
1). All CSR employees are required to attend an annual educational Blitz to complete required
UM mandatories and competencies (BCLS every 2 yrs, Cardiac Arrest and maintain all
other applicable certifications).
2). Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work is
available. It is the intention that all Temps will float to all units within the cluster specialty.
3). A Temporary Nurse should work 24 hours per 4 week schedule block. You may request four
(4), eight (8), or twelve (12) hour shifts in advance.
4.) Temporary Nurses in the CSR Clusters are NOT required to work weekends or holidays.
5). Temporary Nurses will participate in a newly designed, streamlined, onboarding/orientation
program. However, the progression of orientation will be dependent upon clinical
competency, staffing needs of the individual units, and the number of hours worked by the
Temporary RN.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
