Sr. Technical Advisor, Maternal, Newborn, and Reproductive Health Programs

Job Description

The Senior Technical Advisor, Maternal, Newborn, and Reproductive Health Programs is accountable for applying clinical expertise and knowledge to deliver, adapt and/or modify high-quality technical approaches that reflect evidence-based practices in maternal and newborn and reproductive health. They will identify and assess changes in needs, priorities, requirements, and operating conditions, ensuring technical approaches are aligned with and responsive to organizational, client and donor needs, and requirements. They will also support 

current projects in the MNH and cervical cancer teams.


Responsibilities:


Technical Assistance & Clinical Training


  • Provide technical assistance, best practices, and strategic expertise in clinical training for maternal newborn health, family planning, cervical cancer prevention and treatment, and integrated health services.
  • Ensure clinical training programs are technically sound, cohesive, evidence-based, and responsive to the health priorities and needs of countries, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Leads the development of new tools, solutions, and approaches to enhance clinical training and improve health outcomes across diverse health systems.
  • Advise country teams on designing, implementing, and scaling clinical training initiatives
  • Analyze training outcomes and health system data to identify trends and clinical training efforts.
  • Collaborates with local and regional partners to address programmatic and technical challenges for sustainability.
  • Engage donors, governments, and partners to align training programs with national health strategies and donor requirements.

Global Strategy Development & Business Development for New Health Programs


  • Provides technical strategy for business development in the Latin Hub region, aligning with donor, stakeholder priorities, and region.
  • Leads the implementation of strategies to expand Jhpiego’s programs into new countries such as Bissau Guinea, Cabo Verde, and Senegal
  • Oversees the development of new program proposals and identifies strategic opportunities for partnership and program growth.
  • Provides strategic guidance on recruiting qualified staff to support new projects for business development efforts aligned with regional health objectives.


External representation at regional and global meetings


  • Represent Jhpiego at the global (WHO, FIGO) and regional (SAGO, AFOG, WHO regional office for Africa, West African Health Organization) levels
  • Leads Jhpiego’s representation at global and regional events, advocating for the organization’s strategic priorities in maternal, newborn, and reproductive health.




Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Health Policy or a related field
  • 7 years related experience in health systems
  • Additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula


Preferred Qualifications

8+ years' experience,

Doctoral degree preferred
