The University of Notre Dame University Operations, Events, and Safety division is currently hiring for the position of Director of Events, Catering within the department of Notre Dame Hospitality. The University Operations, Events, and Safety division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives. The Director of Events is a strategic leadership position responsible and accountable for catering sales and service for Notre Dame Hospitality. The responsibilities of the position include all financial, human resource, marketing and operations systems; assuring successful results in all areas.
This position is responsible and accountable for the Center for Culinary Excellence and Three Leaf Catering. The responsibilities of the position include all financial, human resource, marketing and operations systems; assuring successful results in these areas. Oversight of all employees of the department while working through their direct reports is an essential leadership component of this position. The ability to communicate well, both verbally and written to many different levels of staff and other university departments is necessary while representing Hospitality and Three Leaf Catering. Culinary production experience combined with event planning at all levels will be critical to the success of this position. The position will also support the Exec Director of Hospitality and is responsible for all operations at the CCE and Three Leaf Catering with industry experience required for high end, large volume planning and execution, as events range from 20 to of 4000 persons and nearly 8000 events per year. Proven successful leadership experience and the ability to work closely with the culinary staff will be required of this position. The position will report to the Exec Director of Hospitality and be a member of the Senior Leadership Team supporting the mission and values of the University of Notre Dame.

Minimum Qualifications
Strong Leadership, Communication and Hospitality skills that will enable person to motivate large staff of mostly temporary workers. Be able to manage upward and downward effectively. Previous experience in University environment would be beneficial as well. Good customer service skills along with strong, genuine people skills will go a long way to enable success of his/her teams. Industry Certification desired. Knowledge of Indiana Beverage Laws. Serv-Safe. Combination of education (degree, certificate), training, and experience (Restaurant and Hotel Management, Business, Catering) will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Food and Beverage experience.
Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of people from the President of the University to the newest temporary worker and work in a fast paced environment. Must lead in a professional, hospitable and empathetic manner to bring the best to the surface, of all university associates. Be welcoming, sincere and provide a great hospitality experience for all university students, staff, guests & visitors.
