Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for the support and coordination of projects from concept to implementation for the Chair and faculty of the Department of Government and Politics (GVPT). The incumbent will work collaboratively across the College and University to support strategic planning issues, events, initiatives, and projects
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Department Level Faculty Administration
    • Coordinates the Appointment, Tenure, and Promotion (APT) for Tenure Track Faculty (TTK) and the Appointment, Evaluation and Promotion (AEP) for Professional Track Faculty (PTK) Process.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for faculty related inquiries and responsible for faculty administrative procedures.
  • Meeting Coordination and Support
    • Agenda Preparation, Minutes and Documentation, Logistics Coordination.
    • Department Chair Support
      • Administrative Assistance, Strategic Planning, Travel Coordination, and Project Management.
    • Shared Governance
      • Committee Coordination, Policy Implementation and Stakeholder Communication
Accomplishing these objectives require this individual to have the skills to manage many simultaneous projects, combined with a willingness to advance GVPT’s mission and goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience:
  • At least 5 years of experience in an administrative role.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Excellent project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple, frequently competing priorities, and provide excellent outcomes within required deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member with a wide variety of responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding department business and files.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated skills in data gathering and analysis.
  • Advanced technical and computer skills with project management, data analytic, and data visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Experience with University service providers and administration offices including, but not limited to Provost Office, Vice President for Research, Facilities Management, Division of IT, Purchasing, Travel Services, and Student Union.
  • Experience with processing travel arrangements and expense reports in a delegate capacity through Concur.
  • Experience in interpreting and advising on University policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Proven strong analytical skills, proactive solution orientation, as well as the ability to be responsive to the needs of department stakeholders.
  • Technical and computer skills to support project management and administrative functions including MS Office Suite, database skills, electronic calendar management, various videoconferencing applications such as Zoom, etc., and email applications.

Additional Information:

Department’s Target Salary Range is $66,000 – $75,000.

Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.

Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
