Student Archives Assistant

Job Description

Under the guidance of the project archivist, the student archives assistant organizes, digitally scans and files, and preserves archival materials. The assistant must responsibly handle delicate physical materials, and re-house and label materials into archival s. Other various duties are required, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to work with and interact with others in an open and inclusive way
Ability to do mundane and detailed tasks with accuracy
Familiarity of the English alphabet
Basic computer/ internet skills such a typing, copy and paste, attaching documents to emails, printing, etc.
Must be willing to work in an environment that contains dust and/or mold, and able to lift 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications:
A strong commitment to historic preservation
A workable knowledge of OCLC CONTENTdm
Experience using scanners and computer databases
Experience using the Dewey Decimal System
Experience working in a library or museum/archive
