Summary of Position

Collaboratively oversee the day-to-day operations of the Memorial Union & Student Activities, while managing and supporting approximately 200 recognized student organizations in conjunction with another coordinator. Coordinate the planning and implementation of policies, leadership education, and develop programs for student organization leaders as well as both the undergraduate and graduate student body.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Direct supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of student and leadership development theories and practices and an understanding of the role of the student union and its programs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with college student organizations and their operations.
  • Experience in development and presentation of workshops, classes, and trainings.

Duty/Responsibility

Advise in conjunction with another coordinator, approximately 200 recognized student organizations to include:
  • Serve as advisor for 91.3 FM WUNH, the UNH radio station. Duties include coaching the organization, liaising with non-student constituents, overseeing technical needs, and ensuring FCC compliance.
  • Serve as staff advisor for The New Hampshire, a student-run news publication, including coaching both the editorial and business sides of the organization.
  • Support the development and implementation of student organization trainings in conjunction with Coordinator, Student Organization Success.
  • In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Programming and Leadership, supports the execution of University Day.
  • In conjunction with the Coordinator, Student Organization Success, plans and executes the Spring Involvement Fair.
  • Manage the new organization recognition process, including but not limited to inquiries, governing document review, training, and risk management assessment.
  • Create and manage Student Organization Policies and various resources to support organizations.
  • Create and oversee the annual Student Organization Report, which serves as both a yearly assessment tool and to track active student organizations.
  • Advise and counsel student leaders on a variety of topics such as program planning, organizational development, leadership, conflict mediation, etc.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of legal/liability procedures for recognized student organizations.

Duty/Responsibility

Collaboratively with the Assistant Director, coordinate leadership education and development efforts for the student body, to include:
  • Plan and facilitate ongoing organizational development workshops for student organization members on various leadership topics throughout the academic year, including but not limited to policy education and anti-hazing training.
  • Develop and facilitate campus-wide leadership programming Leadership Labs.
  • Facilitate professional development programs for campus partners on an as-requested basis.
  • Support the programming and facilitation of premiere leadership retreat experience Lead UNH.

Duty/Responsibility

Additional administrative duties include:
  • Supervise student employees.
  • Serves in decision-making processes regarding student organization conduct.
  • Maximize use of resources including funding, personnel, facilities, and time.
  • Co-manage the Memorial Union & Student Activities leadership budget.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff on marketing efforts.
  • Serve on Memorial Union & Student Activities, and university-wide committees.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans.
  • Gather and analyze data for reporting and recommendations for student organization policies and leadership programming.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to remain on the forefront of the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.
