The Peaslee Steel Manufacturing Research Center (PSMRC) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The candidate should have a doctorate in metallurgy or materials science with experience in high temperature metals processing and solidification with publications in the area. Experience in the operation of experimental systems that support research in steel making, foundry, steel physical metallurgy and/or molten slag-metal systems is preferred. Industrial experience in manufacturing and/or research in steel or a related industry is a plus. The candidate should excel at working with and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, preparing and presenting presentations and technical publications and in pursuing new research opportunities in iron and steel related research. Responsibilities for this position shall include: Conduct new and support ongoing steel related research activities in the MSE department and the PSMRC, oversee lab operations and assist students in related activities and participate in PSMRC events and technical conferences through meeting attendance, presentations and publications.

Qualifications


 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Doctorate in metallurgy or materials science with experience in high temperature metals processing with a track record of publications in the area.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Experience in the design, construction and operation of experimental systems that support research in steel making, foundry and/or molten slag-metal systems is preferred. Familiarity with advanced analytical tools, such as high temperature laser confocal microscopy and SEM automated feature analysis is desirable. Industrial experience in manufacturing and/or research in steel or a related industry is a plus.
