Essential Job Duties
The Department of Clinical Sciences at the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Small Animal Soft Tissue and Oncologic Surgery.
Clinical responsibilities include receiving patients, diagnosis, and surgical management of soft tissue surgery patients referred from veterinarians throughout North Carolina and the Southeast.
Clinical teaching responsibilities include receiving cases, diagnosis, and surgical management of soft tissue cases with senior students, interns/surgical residents and daily rounds with senior students, interns and residents.
The selected candidate for this position will:

The selected candidate for this position will:
- Join a team of 3 experienced faculty surgeons on the Soft Tissue and Oncologic Surgery service.
- Provide effective and efficient patient care and hospital service management.
- Continually improve quality of care as an integrated member of the surgery section and the teaching hospital as a whole.
- Act as a surgical advisor to referring veterinarians (daily phone and/or email consultations) and other clinicians in our own hospital.
- Develop innovative and valued didactic and clinical learning experiences for veterinary students, interns, residents, and veterinary practitioners.
- Engage in clinical or basic research to develop new knowledge in the realm of soft tissue and/or oncologic surgery.
- The ideal candidate will have a proven record in research, which includes the ability to write and develop proposals that will obtain extramural funding.
Minimum Education and Experience
- DVM (or equivalent degree) and eligibility for veterinary licensure (or faculty certification) in North Carolina.
- Must be surgery residency trained.
Other Required Qualifications
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
- Aptitude for and desire to teach and mentor veterinary students, house officers, and residents.
- Expertise in small animal soft tissue and oncologic surgery.
Preferred Qualifications
- American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) Diplomate status preferred.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
- Candidates must meet requirements for a North Carolina Faculty License, or regular North Carolina veterinary licensure.
Valid NC Driver's License required
