The Department of Criminology, Law, and Justice at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applicants for a “Bridge to Faculty” position in Race, Policing, and the Law beginning August 16, 2021. Successful applicants must have completed their PhD between August 15, 2017, and August 15, 2021. Postdoctoral research associates are expected to maintain an active research agenda, to work towards publishing their work, to participate in the intellectual life of the department, and to teach one course during the second year.
The goal of the program is to advance diversity on the permanent faculty level by encouraging the recruitment, retention, and promotion of outstanding scholars from different backgrounds, with an emphasis on attracting individuals from groups who have been historically underrepresented in the social sciences. Successful postdocs in the Bridge to Faculty Program may have the opportunity to transition to tenure-track faculty at UIC starting in the 2023-2024 academic year.
This is a full-time position and includes a competitive salary and benefits package. The Bridge to Faculty Program is funded by the UIC Chancellor’s Office and administered through the Office of the Provost.
