Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree in neurobiology, microbiology, cell biology, immunology or a related field and with 1 year of research training.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills with proficient scientific record keeping
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to work independently, pay attention to details, solve problems, work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
  • Experience and ability to analyze scientific data, present the research results and prepare manuscripts for publication


About the Job:
A Post Doc position is open in the Orr group. The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct research in the field of neurodegenerative disease, specifically Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type I (SCAI). Scientific expertise is necessary to be able to receive general directions and implement an experimental design and execute experiments. This work includes development and analysis of transgenic mouse models, and other molecular biology techniques. The individual should have at least three years’ experience as a postdoc working on an animal model of a neurological disease using molecular and ideally electrophysiological approaches. In addition, expertise in assessing the role of the striatum in disease is critical.
