BASIC FUNCTION:
The Sr. Benefits Analyst will serve as the subject expert matter in administration of Health & Welfare plans including flexible spending, voluntary benefits, and life insurance plans. They will manage benefits audits and collaborate effectively with both internal and external partners to propose process improvements and opportunities for automation. The role will report to Sr. Manager of Benefits.
 
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.
 
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Senior Benefits Analyst is a functional analyst reporting to the Sr. Manager of Benefits and is responsible for data analysis, administration of Health & Welfare, Retirement plans, and supporting the Human Resources team. In addition to data administration, this role supports plan administration, communication, education, vendor management and benefits compliance. The Senior Benefits Analyst provides subject matter expertise on all benefits plans to effectively manage plans, troubleshoot, and resolve issues as they arise.
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • This role requires keen attention to detail with a strong understanding of business analysis and best practices.

  • Create and maintain documentation and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to employee inquiries.
  • Timely delivery of workstream/team responsibilities.
  • Work supportively and collaboratively with other teams, building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proactive in seeking information, challenging norms, and driving efficiency.
  • Provides exemplary customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Will assist with Open Enrollment administration.
  • Coordinates with vendors to facilitate Wellness events.
  • Act as a liaison between benefit vendors and the employees, assisting with escalated benefits issues.
  • Assist with the annual enrollment planning to include communications, enrollment site testing, website updates.
  • Assist with benefit invoice reconciliations and payment of benefit invoice payments.
  • Present benefit education programs to various levels of the organization (e.g., new employee orientation, Open Enrollment, Benefit Fairs).
  • Conduct audits of benefits programs and policies to ensure that the company’s processes are compliant.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of benefits programs and plans.
  • Administers and processes the Tuition Remission benefit for the University.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge and understanding of COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability), Internal Revenue Code, and related state and federal.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, HR Management, or Business with 4+ years of benefits or relevant consulting experience OR • associate degree in human resources, HR Management, or Business with 7+ years of benefits or relevant consulting experience OR • High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of benefits or relevant consulting experience
