Position Description
The Department of Economics in the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor effective fall 2024, pending available funding. We are particularly interested in the fields labor economics, health economics, and the economics of education. Responsibilities include effectively teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting and publishing quality research, participating in activities of the Department, advising graduate students, fulfilling professional and university service. Additional responsibilities may include teaching in the MBA program.
The Department is an academically diverse, professionally active group of nine (9) full-time faculty members with research expertise in areas such as applied microeconomics, labor economics, health economics, public economics. development economics, and international economics. The College
The Fogelman College of Business and Economics has become a leading business school in the Southeast. Globalization is a strategic emphasis of the College. Degree programs offered include the BBA, MA (Economics), MBA, MS, and PhD. The academic programs of the College are fully accredited by AACSB International. The College faculty of approximately 90 serves approximately 2,400 undergraduates, 1,100 master’s students, and 60 doctoral students. The highly qualified faculty is recognized for scholarship and publications in leading academic and professional journals.
 

The University

The Community

Minimum Position Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in economics or related business or quantitative field. Candidates are expected to have started a program of research and demonstrate excellent communication skills and research capabilities.
