Job Summary
The Residency Director's primary focus will be designing, managing, and evaluating a learning and
leadership development experience that begins in students' first year and culminates in the third-year
residency. Using multiple knowledge bases (leadership development theory, experiential learning, and/or
practice-based experience in the field), the Director will create and support a residency experience that
integrates real-world experience and coursework to develop students' leadership capacity.
The Residency Director will be supported by a full-time Residency Administrator. The Director works under
the direct supervision of the Associate Dean and under the direction of the Ed.L.D. Faculty Director.

Job-Specific Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Faculty Director, the Residency Director's responsibilities will include but are not
limited to the following:
• Generate content-rich programming for students in each of the three program years to facilitate
development of learning and leadership goals and to foster connections between their coursework and the
3rd year residency experience;
• Provide career coaching and general support for a cadre of diverse students through individual meetings
with students throughout the first and second years and during the 3rd year residency;
• Guide students in interviewing and matching with appropriate residency sites based on their learning
• Build and maintain a set of partner organizations and residency sites by developing and cultivating
relationships with senior-level executives (e.g., Superintendents, CEOs, Executive Directors, Presidents) at
current and prospective Ed.L.D. partner sites;
• Design and lead residency orientation and training opportunities for students and partner representatives
with input and participation from program faculty and select staff;
• Troubleshoot all residency-related challenges, working in consultation with Ed.L.D. staff to devise
solutions to support students' work and success;
• Develop models for systematic feedback and assessment of all aspects of the residency experience;
• Develop and maintain official Ed.L.D. residency and Capstone policies, guidelines, and related

• Other responsibilities as needed.

Basic Qualifications
Advanced degree and minimum 7 years of direct experience in at least one area of preK-12 education (e.g.
education nonprofits, education entrepreneurship, school districts, social purpose for-profits, and
government agencies or policy/advocacy organizations). Experience or expertise in professional learning,
leadership development, or experiential learning. As a part of the interview process, finalist candidates will
be asked to conduct a very brief presentation of ideas for a professional learning curriculum suitable for
program students in their first and second years. Previous experience managing staff required. Willingness
to travel required.
Additional Qualifications
Broad knowledge of the American education sector ideally with specific experience in the education non-
profit and education entrepreneurship sectors. Experience providing mentoring and/or coaching at the
graduate level or within a professional level desirable, preferably within education. Superior organizational
skills and attention to detail. Excellent written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple
concurrent priorities and adjust workflow accordingly. Strong strategic analysis, interpersonal, and
communication skills. Experience or expertise in developing and evaluating learning outcomes helpful.
