The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School (HMS) are seeking an academic leader to serve as the chair of the Department of Cancer Biology at DFCI and hold an appointment as Professor of Cell Biology at HMS.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full scope of research and educational activities of the department as well as collaborative activities with other departments, HMS, and other affiliated institutions and programs, including the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. The successful candidate will provide leadership to develop and grow nationally recognized peer-reviewed laboratory-based investigation in the Department and will recruit, develop, and retain outstanding faculty. This person will continue the pursuit of novel research in fundamental or basic sciences. This individual will be responsible for training graduate students and postdoctoral fellows as well as participating in HMS courses.
Candidates should have international recognition for research accomplishments, possess leadership and managerial skills, and have a demonstrated record as a mentor and as a teacher. Ideally, the selected candidate will be a proven leader who can guide a multidisciplinary department of successful investigators to even higher levels of excellence.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) or M.D.-Ph.D. and a proven track record of extramurally funded research.
