The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a Research Associate position to work in the Stukenberg Laboratory. The incumbent will design and conduct experiments exploring the basic processes of cell proliferation, gene expression or cancer progression. Experiments require a working knowledge of techniques commonly used in molecular biology and cell biology.

Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree in Biochemistry or a related field by the appointment start date. Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.

The candidate must work independently and ethically, document all research data appropriately, assist graduate students in the lab, apply for independent funding where applicable, and publish data in qualified journals.

This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
