The Nucleic Acid Replication Division at New England Biolabs (NEB) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow focused on genome stability and regulation in the unicellular eukaryote Naegleria gruberi . Successful candidates will be part of a multidisciplinary effort to better understand this fascinating organism. Experience with a range of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques is preferred, particularly nucleic acid amplification, next-generation sequencing, and enzyme assays.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop tools to edit the N. gruberi genome

  • Bioinformatically identify new enzymes involved in genome maintenance

  • Isolate and characterize nucleic acid modifying enzymes from N. gruberi . Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Comfort working collaboratively with various cross-functional teams and groups


Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience with multiple modern biotechnology methods and fields (e.g. NGS, PCR, and CRISPR/Cas9)

  • Publication of original scientific work in peer-reviewed journal
