Job Description

The Community Manufacturing Training Center Coordinator is the operational implementer for all advanced manufacturing and related training initiatives that will occur at the Centers in Hartford. This person oversees student support, office functions, open-lab assistance for students during hours of operation, scheduling rooms and classes in collaboration with the Director of Workforce Development, the Director of Grants, and collaborates with the Community Outreach Liaison in recruiting, fielding walk-in inquiries and managing day-to-day operations. Additionally, ensuring the accountability and operational integrity of equipment by collaborating with the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Labs and the Director of IT. This position also requires support for faculty doing the training, coordinating outreach events at the Center, acting as liaison with the property owner, and includes all relative administrative functions. This position is located in Hartford, CT with need to commute throughout the greater Hartford area. The Community Manufacturing Training Center Coordinator ought to be well versed in business, familiarity with manufacturing, in particular, is helpful. The coordinator must be willing and able to speak to all groups concerning careers in manufacturing and training opportunities at the Center. Bi-lingual is a plus. Works under the direction of the Dean of the School of Business, Technology, and Advanced Manufacturing. This is a grant funded position.

 

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

In consultation with the Dean, this person will be the operational implementer for all advanced manufacturing and related events at the Center which includes:

  • Coordination with faculty (with regards to training,) the Director of Workforce Development, the Director of Grants and the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Labs, to ensure the Center is efficiently allocated to public relations and training events with appropriate supplies and materials,
  • Coordinating events at the Center,
  • Track grant related expenditures at the Center
  • Ordering supplies
  • Develop and maintain lab and classroom maintenance schedules,
  • Training and public event schedules,
  • Orchestrating loading and unloading of equipment,
  • Data collection concerning participants and events,
  • Delivering presentations on related manufacturing fields to outside groups,
  • All other duties include all relative administrative functions.
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.

 

Other Functions:

  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

 

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

  • An aptitude with basic tools
  • The ability to adapt to and use technology is required.
  • The ability to analyze, synthesize and interpret data is necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills are required.
  • A demonstrated ability to research material both on-line and in traditional library settings is a plus.
  • Excellent facilitation skills and a demonstrated ability to work closely in teams is required.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree required (bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • The ability to move and lift equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted is required.

 

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Relevant business or manufacturing industry experience is a plus and may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • Experience with education programs is preferred.
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel and Outlook programs and internet applications required.
