DESCRIPTION

The Nurse Manager for Home Infusion Nursing is responsible and accountable for providing administrative and clinical leadership. Develops standards of care coordination that demonstrates success in: promoting high quality, cost effective delivery of care; ensuring effective utilization of resources across the continuum; excellent customer service; and compliance with regulatory and internal UCSD requirements. Spearheads innovative projects and approaches involving multi-disciplinary factions for systems improvement that affects patient outcomes across the organization. Plans, schedules and organizes work to ensure proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space and facilities.

The Nurse Manager possesses experience with home infusion and home health services, including accreditation and regulatory requirements. The Nurse Manager will drive nursing practice and vision for the home infusion service line. The manager is responsible for the direct supervision and management of field nurses as well as direct patient care as needed. Working in partnership with the Home Infusion Pharmacy Manager, the Nurse Manager, strives to build an exceptional experience for patients, providers, and staff.

Supervises staff, screens candidates, interviews and hires new employees. Ensures staff competence, compliance with staff licensure/certification requirements and maintenance of related documentation. Conducts performance appraisals, counsels staff, and takes disciplinary action as required in consultation with Human Resources/Labor Relations. Ensures compliance with discipline-related action plans. Develops/integrates annual operational, capital and personnel budget for each cost center with the Department of Finance. The Nurse Manager will be required to prepare and submit reports for KPI for the department, State of CA, and any other home care regulatory body.

Responsible to meet all requirements for the licensed home health agency and acts as the Director of Nursing on record.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.

  • Current BART certification, or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Seven (7+) or more years of relevant experience, including a minimum of three (3) years of RN experience in a home health agency, primary care clinic, or hospital.

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

  • Must have sufficient background knowledge and expertise in home health and infusion therapy to meet the needs of the patient population served and to contribute to Quality Management review and evaluation.

  • Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.

  • Proven knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology, patient care workflows, and processes.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.

  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

  • Must have decision making, problem solving and prioritizing skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area.

  • Relevant specialty certification (INS, ONS).

  • Managerial experience in home health or home infusion.

  • Experience with Quality Assurance programs.

  • Joint Commission accreditation experience.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $124,400 - $243,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.58 - $116.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
