TITLE: Annual Giving Coordinator
 
SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position supports the annual scholarship budget relieving giving priority and the Office of Annual Giving by developing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for a significant population of annual giving donors. The focus of this position will be external and will require travel to areas around the nation, as well as travel within the state of North Dakota, Montana, and South Dakota. This position will also work with the Executive Director and develop plans for Annual Giving and special initiatives.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to the Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field & 2 years of direct fund-raising experience

    • OR Associates degree & 3 years of directly related work experience

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large number of prospective donors resulting in significant increased gifts

  • Excellent professional writing, editing, and analytical skills, public speaking, & expository skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interface professionally with alumni, parents, administration, faculty, staff and students

  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers & volunteer groups

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, minimal administrative support, as well as the ability to work well with others

  • Superior organizational skills

  • Effectively work with the donor community, academic community, and colleagues in a cooperative environment

  • Excellent and demonstrated goal-oriented management skills (self-motivated, detail oriented, and donor-centered)

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge software

  • Familiarity with advanced features of Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Ability to learn and apply new computing software applications quickly

  • Flexibility

  • Good humor in the face of a database conversion

  • Knowledge of selective higher education development activities

 
COMPENSATION: Includes a salary of $30,000 - $35,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. And a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including employer-paid full-family coverage health insurance, TIAA retirement, tuition waiver benefits and much more.
 
LOCATION: Dickinson, ND
 
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Use superior organizational skills

  • Work independently with minimal direction/administrative support

  • Work well with others

  • Successfully manage a full load of approximately 150-175 assigned prospects from identification through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with the goal of soliciting them for the Alumni Fund, Scholarship Fund, or other budget-relieving initiatives annually

  • Promote the giving societies whenever possible

  • Encourage annual contributions to the University

  • Coordinate with appropriate volunteers, as applicable

  • Work closely with the Executive Director of the DSU Heritage Foundation, the Director of Annual Giving for the giving clubs, and members of the Major Gifts staff to ensure that prospective donors at the club levels and above are annually contacted.

  • Work with the Executive Director to evaluate Annual Giving, Major Gifts, and Planned Giving to continually review donor lists to solicit donors for the proper solicitation levels.

  • Advise the Executive Director of new programs at the top Annual Giving levels that will encourage increased giving.

  • Coordinate with members of the Office to develop the top Annual Giving levels messages through the magazine, website, and other communication outlets.

  • Promote donor events to assigned prospects and be on hand at on-campus and off-campus events.

  • Related duties as assigned
