About the Position
The Associate Dean is a member of the LCoB management team in partnership with the Associate Dean for the Lucas Graduate School of Business, and the Dean of the College of Business.
The office holder is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Undergraduate Business Programs and, as part of the College's management team, may assume the role of the Dean in his/her absence. At the direction of the Dean, the Associate Dean will represent the College with other management personnel in the University, Deans and their representatives from other CSU campuses, and the broader business community.
An incumbent should possess leadership and management skills, the ability to implement plans determined by the College management team and its faculty members, an ability to communicate his/her vision of the college, and the desire to work collaboratively with the College's students and faculty at large in an open and transparent manner. Additionally, an Associate Dean is expected to serve as a role model to the faculty, maintaining a Scholarly Academic (SA) standing under AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) standards required for an Associate or Full Professor at San Jose State University.
This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The person hired for this position may be required to complete an outside employment disclosure statement in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations.
A minimum of three years of relevant management experience within an academic or business
Scholarly academic standing with regard to the AACSB standard
Possession of a relevant doctoral degree or appropriate terminal degree as specified by
A record of scholarly work and teaching sufficient to earn the rank of tenured, associate or full
professor in an AACSB-accredited business school such as San Jose State University
License & Certificates
A valid driver's license is required for this position. Out of state candidates selected for the position must obtain a State of California driver's license within 10 days of hire in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations.
Once hired the employee must successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program provided by the State of California for California State University campuses.

Demonstrated proficiency in services related to marketing, recruitment and student enrollment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to interview, hire, and train staff in the Deans' Office
Demonstrated knowledge of organizational awareness and exhibit a firm grasp of the College
Knowledge to operate the College and its Departments/Schools as a team, establishing
rapport with people from diverse academic backgrounds
Knowledge of supervisory responsibilities including faculty hiring and evaluation of tenured and
tenure track faculty
Skilled to serve as the contact person when potentially hazardous or unsafe conditions are
and University's business and administrative policies and procedures
